Safari not loading pages

Since updating to MacOs 10.14.6. Safari 12.1.2 is either extremely slow to load pages, never finishes loading, or stopped to load pages all together.

No Extensions installed, Cache cleared, latest version of MacOs and Safari.

Pages load normally in Chrome and Firefox. I already moved almost entirely to Chrome, because Safari is unusable (btw Firefox is really nice to develop with, didn't know).

However, in lieu of keep using the Apple browser, is there anything I missed? Or is Safari just broken since the last MacOs update?

  1. Shut down your Mac.

Simple reboot seemed to have fixed it! I thought the long and GB heavy upgrade to MacOS 10.4.6 already did a reboot, therefore I didn't do a manual reboot after the installation. But obviously the system was unstable and needed a reboot.

Thank you for your help.

Here are a few fundamental troubleshooting steps that may help. Some of the information will be redundant but review everything to determine if there is something you may have overlooked.

If you don't get anywhere, you can use the following procedure to determine if the problem is internal or external to your Mac. Causes may involve your router, your ISP, the DNS Server(s) it uses, or certain user-configurable options.

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Load macOS Recovery by holding and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac with a third finger.
  3. At the macOS Utilities screen, release those two fingers.
  4. Choose Get Help Online.
  5. Safari will launch, but it will lack your bookmarks, favorites, history and other preferences.

Determine if the problem persists while using Safari in that mode. After that, restart your Mac normally, and reply with your observations.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin
