To change the mail client when using the mailto links

I’ve changed my client on my IPhone, using Spark instead of the default app Mail. Everything is working fine except for the mailto links. When I tap on this kind of links in Safari or even in a mail received in Spark, the message below warns me that I don’t have the native Mail app and I need to download it to open the link correctly. I have been searching for the right option (if it exists...) but without success! Does anyone know how to change this default setting? Thanks if you can help.

Hello infinitmi.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I'm understanding correctly, you are having some trouble with using your Spark email client, because of an error stating that you will need the native mail app. I know mail is important, and I will be glad to assist.

If the Spark email client requires the native Mail app for iOS, and it is not installed, please see the steps below from this resource:

Remove built-in Apple apps from the Home screen on your iOS 10 device or Apple Watch

Restore a built-in app that you removed

  1. On your iOS device, go to the App Store.
  2. Search for the app. Make sure that you use the exact name of the app. Find the correct name of built-in apps.
  3. Tap  to restore the app.
  4. Wait for the app to restore, then open it from your Home screen.

If you have an Apple Watch, restoring an app to your iPhone also restores that app to your Apple Watch.

Additionally, please see this resource as well:

If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

Cheers.

Jeremy, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this cannot fix my problem. If I restore Mail on my IPhone, it turns out that I’m forced to use Mail to write and send my message when I start from a mailto link... and I’d like to use Spark that is my regular client at the moment. Probably there is some default rule or setting that I have to switch off or deactivate...but I cannot find out what is it.
