I'm thinking about buying the new Apple iWatch 5 but apparently it has an always on display. Can this be turned off? I think I would find it really annoying to have it on all the time.

Yes,but on the other hand,in the exact same post it says “Only sleep no longer means the display turning off. Now it means the display staying on, but in ultra low power mode.” It is quite,idk... interpretable..
Other than shutting it down, you should be able to tap Theater Mode on your Control Panel.
OK, when your local Apple Store has the Series 5 in stock, you can go and play with it for yourself, and decide if it works the way you need.
Wait until the manual is released and then you will know.
I feel the same about this feature, nice to have bit sometimes i’d like to be able to turn of the screen..

For some reason when I toggled off “always on” my watch also stopped ringing for phone calls. Anyone else notice this?
Along with phone not ringing I do not get haptic notifications for text messages or activity.
