Generally, you restore a backup of the iPhone and wait for them to be downloaded, or log in with the same Apple ID and redownload them manually. A few applications require iPhone-specific functionality and won't work on an iPad.

Hi! Congratulations on your new iPad Air!

Your App purchases and downloads are saved under your Apple ID. You will just want to make sure to sign into your Apple ID in Settings > iTunes and App Store.

To redownload: open the App Store on your iPad > Click your Apple ID circle that is located in the top right corner > Purchased > Not on the iPad tab > then click the cloud with down arrow to download. You can download as many as you would like at the same time.

Not all iPhone applications will be available or compatible with the iPad. Also, some may open to a smaller screen.
