I find that when my MacBook Air is shut off, and I am opening after 5 to 6 hours later, I find about 8-9 % battery down !! Is it that my MBA is eating battery when it is shut off !! Overall also battery getting exhausted quickly.

This exact problem was happening to me. A way that I combatted it was turning off my WiFi before putting it on sleep!
So overnight now there would be about 1-2% battery drain.
