Not able to boot from ssd

I removed my MBP 2011 hdd and put ssd in it's place and removed dvd drive and installed that hdd there with caddy.

I successfully cloned hdd to ssd but by pressing option button while boot i can see only hdd available for boot.

PS : my ssd is formatted to APFS and i am in high sierra

FYI, just because the SSD is shown does not mean the cable is good. I've seen enough of these cables fail and the symptoms do vary. I was able to install macOS to the drive with no issues, but when it came time to boot to the new macOS from the drive it would have issues. I could still mount the drive and access files seemingly without issue. Other times a bad cable will keep the drive from working at all. The only way to tell is by booting the SSD externally. If it works fine externally, then either the issue is with the internal cable or you have a compatibility issue between the laptop and the SSD. In your case, you may even have other hardware issues as I previously noted.

How do you know you are seeing the hard drive instead of the SSD when Option Booting? Do you have different volume names for each?

What software did you use to clone the drive?

If you boot the laptop, can you see the SSD's volume in the Finder?

Try an SMC reset and PRAM reset (hold the PRAM reset for at least three chimes so it activates several times).

What is the make & model of the SSD?

Bypass the internal SATA cable by booting externally to the SSD to test.

Replace the SATA cable. OWC/MacSales has excellent customer support—ask them for compatible replacement.

This could indicate a defective internal hard drive cable. Or it could be an incompatibility with the laptop's SATA controller and the SSD. Replacing the internal cable would be the next step.

Creating a macOS USB installer is the only way now if you are using Mojave. The graphical issues you are seeing is either due to a defective GPU which is common on the 15" & 17" MBPro 2011'2 or you have a defective LCD panel.

All of these issues/difficulties are pointing to hardware issues of some sort.

Once you boot macOS, go into the Startup Disk in System Preferences to make sure the SSD is selected as the boot drive.

They should. That being said one time I had difficulty with my enclosure and a hard drive. The enclosure would show up, but the SSD wouldn't mount. However, this was on a late 2007 MacBook so I don't know what the issue was. I ended up just transferring the old drive to the enclosure, and then cloning it directly with the SSD in the Mac.
