MacBook Pro 2019 new keyboard, keys harder to press?

Is anyone else having issues with the new style keyboard on the new MacBook Pro? I have joint problems and I feel like these shallow keys are so much harder to press than the previous style. I feel like this is making my hands really sore and I type all day. Could mine be a lemon or are they all like this with the new style?

Maybe:

  • Have the computer evaluated at an authorized service center.
  • Go to a store and try the various keyboards. What appears harder to you may not appear so to others.
  • Your "joint problems" are worsening.
  • Return the computer and get one with a different keyboard.

It is difficult for us to diagnose hardware or medical issues remotely. Whenever I get a new keyboard it feels different to what I'm accustomed to. It takes me a while to feel comfortable with the keyboard. But I don't have joint problems so the fact that you may be more sensitive to the feel of the keyboard may be a major contributing factor. Try different keyboards at the store to see if it is indeed your keyboard that is the issue.

I'm having an 'Oh NO!' moment. I just spent - bigtime - on a new 15" MacBook Pro on 27 September. I was told there may be an issue down the road with the keyboard because of the new key design, so I went for the AppleCare. Today, my S key is packing up. It is not registering a click. I'm a touch typist and I rely on that feeling of the key registering. No key registration now, so I have to look at the screen more. I may or may not get the key strike. Strike, strike and strike again to make it go. It messes me up in a big way. Let's be clear, at just over 2 weeks of use (and while I touch type, I'm mostly I'm a graphics user creating video content for my YouTube channel), this is a STAGGERING FAIL.

I am beyond upset. I'm incensed.

I will be taking it back for a refund and getting a Mac Mini instead. At least if a keyboard dies I can replace it easily.

I suppose I will keep using my old, now slow, MacBook Pro (2012) with its superb, robust keyboard instead.

Apple, you have disappointed me and let me down. I may have to talk about this on my channel.
