iPhone 8 lightening cable won't charge

I have an iPhone8, a few months beyond warranty. The lightening cable has serious trouble connecting with the phone to charge it, and, if the phone is held verticallly, will often fall out. Any idea how to fix this?

Lightening Cable is not working Hi Apple, I purchased a new lightening cable in July this year. It has been working fine since yesterday. However as of today it’s not really working well. When plugged in it shows the charging sign for less than a second and then turns off. It’s not my phone as I’ve checked it with a family members charger.
