I have just spoken to the online store and apparently it is not possible. I can take them out and give them to a friend who might need them??? Resources are finite, we are all encouraged to reduce waste and recycle and yet apple are forcing me to buy 2 products I don't want in order to update my Mac; I just want to be a responsible consumer and this seems so incredibly wasteful.

It is an issue because it is so incredibly wasteful, both financially and environmentally. I certainly have no problem with people who haven't previously owned an iMac or people who choose to buy spares (of whatever part); it's just that I don't want or need either. I don't keep a spare iPhone just in case my iPhone breaks, or a spare Mac incase my Mac breaks etc. I have never needed a spare mouse or keyboard in the past 20 years of owning various iMac's. Indeed, even if I did, I now have a collection of 'spares' because every time I update my iMac I am required to buy a produce bundle containing a new keyboard and mouse (exactly the same as the ones I am using to type this). Resources are finite, we are all encouraged to reduce waste and recycle and yet apple are still forcing me to buy 2 products I don't want or need just to update my Mac; I just want to be a responsible consumer and this seems so wasteful.

You're right, I already have quite a selection of spare keyboards and mouses! That was what prompted my question. I was just in the process of customising my latest Mac order and could see that I could add various things such as a Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad but couldn't see a way to leave off the bits I didn't need (even for free). I just hoped that someone on here might know of a way, but seemingly there isn't one. I will post it onto the product feedback link. Thanks
