If he bought this iPad 10 years, ago, then this iPad would just, basically, be useless to you, now, anyways.
A 2010 iPad cannot be upgraded beyond iOS 5.1.1 and has been long abandoned by Apple and third party app developers and you can no longer get apps, initially, from the iOS App Store for that very first iPad.
If it is an 2011 iPad 2 ( with front and back cameras ) that iPad can only be upgraded to iOS 9.3.5/9.3.6 from over 3 years, ago.
Same screnario.
Apps for that model iPad and version of iOS, as of the beginning of 2019, are now steadily being abandoned by many, MANY third party app developers and you can't get /obtain these apps, initially, from Apple's iOS App Store app/app servers, any longer either.
The couple of workarounds for getting older versions of apps work, but are working for many less older versions of apps in the iOS App Store.
So, it maybe best to just recycle your dad's iPad responsibility.
You'll never get the apps you will want to use for that iPad, any longer.
Best of Luck to You!
