Only had my phone about 4 months, never dropped it or damaged it. Just noticed a shadow in the top left corner! Absolutely ridiculous. Not happy. Will I get this fixed for free? I’ve done nothing to make it happen.

We can't diagnose that issue remotely. Have your 7+ inspected at an Apple Store or AASP. If it is a manufacturer's defect and if your device is still covered by warranty then yes, it will be repaired for free.
Apple Specialists, after checking it out, will give you all the available options.
