upgrading from snow leopard to High Sierra on older imac

I found out my original operating system for my I Mac is snow leopard by calling Apple support. My question is how would I upgrade to Sierra or High Sierra so I have the latest operating system my I Mac is allowed to use?

If you have Snow Leopard or Lion and wish to upgrade to High Sierra you must upgrade to El Capitan first: the link is:

Note that installation is only allowed if either:

The Mac is running Snow Leopard (only) and is compatible with High Sierra

or

The Mac is running Snow Leopard or higher, but is not compatible with High Sierra

 


You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at
