Did you try Settings>General>Shut Down? If the screen isn’t responding to touch, try a forced restart and then try shutting the phone down after it reboots.
iPhone 8 or later: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

What is the problem with turning it off?
You can also turn it off from settings. Head to Settings > General, scroll all the way down and tap "Shut Down".

Did you try a forced restart? What is the complete sim failure message? Are you now saying that the touchscreen is totally unresponsive?
