iphone 4s software update stuck on itunes and USB logo

Hi all

I was prompted to update my software and when doing so the phone stopped responding and has stuck on the Itunes logo..

Plugging into itunes to upgrade thgrough PC, the upload bar gets 2/3rds across then stalls.

Now the screen shows itunes logo and USB.

I have tried uploading numerous times yet no joy.

I did drop the phone a couple of days ago which cracked the screen, though do not think this is related as it was working afterwards.

Any thoughts and suggestions please.

You are in recovery mode. You need to restore it through iTunes on your computer.

Make sure you have disabled all anti-virus software on your computer before restoring.

Also, have you ever replaced you battery?

And, yes, just turn of the antivirus program temporarily while you try to restore your phone.

Disable and try again. It might help.

But I've also seen too many reports that iTunes shows error 29 when it detects a not original battery inside the iPhone. People report that the only option to resolve it is to replace it with one from Apple.

Hi. That is the problem.

If I update or restore through the PC it stops 2/3 through and states error (29)

Hi, thank you for responding.

I changed the battery 6 months ago, not sure if that is part of the cause.

Antivirus is running, disable it then yes?
