how can I stop autocorrect (c) changing to copyright symbol?

See above.

I'd like to put e.g. (c) in text in paragraphs (i.e. a lot but not on separate lines) but text/autocorrect changes it to the copyright symbol [ (c) ] each time.

Can I turn this off in Mojave? I don't use it.

Thanks

Thanks. In Pages, either uncheck Edit > Substitutions > Text Replacements which will disable all substitutions, or, check "Show Substitutions" which will bring up a small popup, click the "x" and it will ignore the substitution.

I've read that. Now slightly better read but none the wiser. It says you can replace (c) with the copyright sign, but doesn't say how to turn it off.

It also says how to add auto text using System Finder/Keyboard/Text or through substitutions within the program, but (c) / the copyright sign doesn't appear in either. (Interesting I can type (c) here without autocorrection though).

Does anyone know where this is kept (i.e. the instruction to change (c) to the copyright sign, and how I can delete it. I doubt I will ever use the copyright sign -not deliberately, anyway.

Pages Preferences has its own auto-correction panel with these replacements. You can either remove the (c) entry in that panel, or uncheck Symbol and text substitution in that panel. There is also a System Preferences : Keyboard : Text panel entry that also offers (c). That too can be removed, or in Pages : Edit menu : Substitutions sub-menu : Uncheck Text Replacement. This latter approach is what you would also need to do to prevent Safari from expanding (c) to a copyright symbol.
