If you are currently subscribing to Office 365, all of your Office apps are already 64-bit. There shouldn't be anything you need to do in this case. Did you actually check to verify that they are 32-bit using System Information > Software > Applications, for example?
FWIW, I'm using Office 365, v16.29, which is 64-bit on my 2018 Mac mini that is currently running macOS Mojave 10.14.6

I rec'd a msg saying MS error report when I tried to close excel after using it.the msg then was about 32 bit incompatibility.i checked it through the apple icon procedure and it showed ms word, power point, excel etc and Adobe being 32 bit apps.?
So I asked the question?
Now the excel sheets I had saved do not seem to be saved after I work on it!
My Air is 2011 purchased and MS Office was installed but after the last update before Catalina,it stopped working for me.I could not save anything.
and then I installed Catalina, which then said my office was not the updated version and then I bought the new Office and it is fine now.
My MS Office products have stop working after upgrading to Catalina. The solution people are suggesting is to buy the new office suite. I can't afford to, is there another solution? down grade my OS, but to what?
I have already spend hours i apple stores or in the online chat. I have a macbook pro mid 2012. I was on OS high sierra. I installed a new SSD Hard drive and extra ram. At the apple store they download Catalina. What is the OS before this? I could maybe try vs buying new office package.
thanks
Microsoft are saying that this is caused by Apple now using 64 rather than 32. They are also saying that Apple might be developing an upgrade that will allow you to use older Office applications. Not sure if this is correct, but it seems that at the end of the day it's the customer who suffers and has to pay again.
Nonsense. Catalina is a 64bit operating system and will not run 32bit software. End of story. You want to run Office you either need the most recent update of Office 2016 or Office 365. Both are fully 64bit compliant
If you really have Office 365 it is 64 bit compliant. Your Adobe Reader may not be. Download the newest version or use a different PDF reader. I prefer Apple's Preview app for much of my PDF needs.
Thats reqlly strange. Office on Mac installs 64 bit by default. There is no way it install 32 Bit. Try to manually remove Office and then reinstall. I am sure that will fix the problem.
I upgraded mac to latest version- Office 365 loaded but will not activate on word etc in the mac.
Right after I loaded Catalina, I went to use my Office software. None on the office apps will work. What is the fix? I cant afford a new Office Suite.
Thanks
You have to subscribe to new MSOffice as the 32-bit old ones did not work for me too.
i did buy the new subscription and now it works👌
