stocks app quits on mac

For the last month, the Apple Stocks app repeatedly spontaneously quits on my 1 year old MacBook Air. Little info on the forums. Tried starting in Safe Mood, no change. thanks for any help

I see from your post that you're having trouble with the Stocks app on your Mac. It seems that over the last month it has been unexpectedly quitting when you use it. I'm happy to help!


Testing in safe mode was a great step. Since that hasn't helped, I'd recommend going through the other steps in If an app freezes or quits unexpectedly on Mac - Apple Support next, followed by seeing if the issue occurs in a new, test user: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support. This will help us determine if settings or data in your user account may be causing the conflict.


Should you continue to have trouble with the Stocks app, I'd suggest reinstalling the macOS software: How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery - Apple Support. This will also reinstall the Stocks app, as it's built into the macOS software. And while reinstalling should not remove any of your personal information, I would encourage you to create a backup in Time Machine before reinstalling, just in case: Back up your Mac with Time Machine - Apple Support.
