Apple ID settings

I am getting a request in Settings to “Update my Apple ID settings”. When I click continue, I am prompted to enter my ID password.

When I do so, I get a spinning pinwheel for about 20 minutes and then the message that the process failed and the offer to try again. I have given multiple tries with the same result and still have the notice in Settings.

How do I handle this?

Some people have fixed this by signing out of iCloud and back in.


Do you have access to another WiFi network where you can try? That has worked for several people.


Try a restart.


Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


Try a forced restart.
