White lines between image fill tiles in Pages

I am trying to fill a shapes with a seamless pattern using image fill. When I choose to tile the image, I get white lines between all the tiles. They stay there when I print and when I export to PDF. I've tried using a .png and a .jpg of the image. Also tried Advanced Image Fill to see if it would change anything. Nothing works to get rid of the white tile lines. Any ideas?

I am using Pages 8.1. Here's a screenshot.

Your source image may have a hairline white border. I created a 300 dpi 298x298 pixel image in Affinity Designer that was exported without its background. To better test this image for Shape tiling, I reduced it in Preview to 100x100 pixels at the same resolution.

I have no white lines shown in this Pages v8.1 shape with image fill tile set. The shape is actually 5 x 5 inches. It remains seamless at 400x enlargement.

Yes, that must be it. That's kind of what I was thinking, even though I couldn't detect the hairline in Illustrator. To test, I took a screenshot of a central portion of the image and chose that as my image fill, and there were no lines when tiled. Although I did lose the seamlessness of the pattern.

So, to solve...Instead of exporting a .png from Illustrator, I opened the .ai file in Photoshop and exported a .png from there. No lines. Thanks for the quick response and for helping me process this.
