Verification Failed, There was a problem connecting to the server

I recently updated my iPhone XS Max. I’m getting pop ups that say I need to sign into iCloud. When I enter my password, it says “Verification Failed, there was a problem connecting to the server”

I have tried every answer I can find online. I have:

turned my phone off & on again

hard reset

fiddled with the “automatic time”

reset my network settings

reset my iCloud password

completely signed out of iCloud


nothing is working, I can’t sign in, and I can’t download apps. Help!
