karaoke set up from MacBook air

What adaptors do I need to run karaoke out of my MacBook Air? My last computer was a MacBook Pro and had a Display Port and a mini-aux out. Now I'm stuck with the dongle. Open to suggestions, I have a party tomorrow!

Hey there waybeyondhope,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’d like to know what adapters you need to run karaoke from your MacBook Air. I’ll be happy to help with this.

Assuming this is a 2019 MacBook Air, you’ll need to use one of the adapters listed in the following link depending on the type of external display you want to use for your karaoke session:

Use an external display with your MacBook Air

If you’re wanting to use an external speaker as well, there are a couple of options. One would be to use AirPlay to an AirPlay enabled speaker:

AirPlay system requirements

If you have a Bluetooth enabled speaker, this article can help:

Connect a Bluetooth device with your Mac

There should also be a 3.5 mm headphone jack on your MacBook Air. If you want to connect to a speaker that has a 3.5 mm or 1/4” jack, you can get a cable or adapter from a number of locations, like Best Buy, Amazon, local electronics shop, or the web.

If these don't work, let us know what year MacBook Air you have so we can find the adapters for that model.

Best wishes.
