Apple Gift Card Redeem Took My Apple Gift Card without Redeeming

I just got a gift card from my friends and went to go redeem it... Once I went to redeem it and I scanned the code and went to redeem but it said ITunes servers for purchase can not be done at this time. Please try agin later..... so I tried again and now it says that THE CARD HAS BEEN REDEEMED!!! Please Help!!!
