calls going to iPad but not phone

I recently got an iPad Pro and am still figuring it out. Whenever I get an incoming Facetime call, both my iPad and my iPhone ring, but the iPhone screen is always black and it goes through fine on the iPad. Why is this happening and is there some settings I need to switch? I would just like to be able to make and receive FT on my phone.

Hey there stephbien,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. Congrats on your new iPad Pro. I understand you only want to get FaceTime calls on your iPhone and I’ll be happy to help with this.

One simple way to do what you want is go to Settings > FaceTime and turn FaceTime off. If you want to be able to use FaceTime on your iPad some of the time, you can go to Settings > FaceTime and look at the options under ‘You can be reached by FaceTime at’. On your iPhone, you can just have your number checked and on your iPad, you can just use your Apple ID. That would allow you to use FaceTime on both devices without getting the calls on both devices at the same time. You can read more about this here:
