iPhone 11 Pro Max Camera issues

So my iPhone 11 Pro Max camera has an issue straight out of the box. The camera is blurry. It is so bad that my iPhone 6 could take better photos. Using the telephoto lense makes it even worse. It looks like you're watching standard cable. It's fuzzy. The ultrawide does the same thing. Leaving it at 1x helps but it still doesn't like right. Tapping to focus doesn't help. The photos my phone is taking are definitely not what I saw on the keynote. It looks terrible. Also, the interface is just bad. It's hard to use. Also, night mode reveals just how bad the camera is. For a Pro iPhone, I don't believe this deserves "Pro" in it's name. Or it's hefty price.

Is this on every image? If so, is there anything on the lenses?

As to the secondary issue, this may not be an option for you, but if you have room on a credit card for them to place a hold for the amount of the phone they have an option where they will send you a replacement phone and a box to ship yours back to them. The hold will stay on your card until they receive your phone back. I have done this several times because I do not want to be without my phone while waiting for repairs either. They do not charge your card unless they do not receive your phone. I believe it is called an expedited repair and you have to ask for it.

@rbrylawski Hi People, I'm Maurice from the Netherlands and Wednesday i was in the Apple Store The Hague and i buy an iPhone 11 Pro Max Gold 256 GB and Apple replaced it today with an brand new gold 256 GB as wel. But i think i have the same issue with the Ultra Wide and telephoto lens. The pictures of the normal lens are great but the other lenses are very Blurry and not sharp I hope its a software issue.

Aplle olso say's the me today that the new modes in the camaera's are in Beta so i really hope that it is a software issue.

The First is a ultrawide lens picture with my new one end the other is a night mode foto with myfirst pro max Gold 256 GB

When you are zooming in than you can see it.

Is this good or bad?

Hi Cuteshenanigans,

here is a screenshot that Apple was just interested in seeing, because this was taken in great lighting. You should know if you have the issue pretty quickly because even in the preview everything will have static over it and lose all of its detail, like you see on the floor.

granted this is just a screenshot, but the actual photo has the issue as well.

Other than a poor subject in the first photo, there is nothing crappy about it. In fact, it is as clear as one could possibly hope for. You took the picture with the subject too close to the lens, so if you thought the background should be as clear, you should have composed the photo with the correct lens. The second photo would be more indicative of you moving the phone when the shutter was released in low light. There is NOTHING wrong with the camera on your new phone.

I spoke to Apple support tonight to see if maybe they had any ideas and nope. My phone settings are correct, the phone diagnostics are good (no surprise there), and they had no idea what it could be. They told

me to speak with their photo department because they apparently have access to tools the standard support staff doesn’t. We’ll see what happens, but it’s for sure not hardware related which I’m at least happy about.

Hey I have the same problem!

Mainly with the Ultra wide lens though. I took two pictures where you can clearly see the difference. I took a screenshot to show that it's really just the ultra wide lens that has the issue and as soon as it switches to the normal one the quality is "fine".

I took my phone to the store and got a new one because I thought something was wrong with the phone but the new phone I got has the same issue.

Same issue here. The regular camera app takes photos that presents themselves as a mess in the photos app unless zoomed in and out of or the editing tools are opened. You can actually see the photo clear up when the tools are opened and go back to crap as soon as they’re closed. The same scenes shot at the same time look fine when taken with instagram and Twitter.
