IOS13 Mail outlook.com duplicate sent items

This has bugged me with MacOS Mail for years, and with iOS13 Mail I now have the problem on the iphone (6s)

I have 4 email accoonts, one icloud account (no problems) and 3 Outlook.com accounts. All 3 now store duplicate sent items in the app.

They are not stored on the server sent folder, and only one copy is received by the recipient.

I have deleted the accounts and added back.

Thete is no setting on webmail to help me.

IOS 11 and 12 did not have this problem though MacOS have had it for years. Its no doubt a Microsoft glitch but only shows up in 13.

Any help, or others testing this would be appreciated.

Wahoo we waited long enough...

  • Fixes issues in Mail that may prevent downloading new messages
  • Addresses an issue that prevented deleting messages in Gmail accounts
  • Resolves issues that could cause incorrect characters to display in messages and duplication of sent messages in Exchange accounts

my battery is 17% lol need to charge before it will allow me to update. Best of luck everyone is this a very merry Christmas from Apple?

I have the same issue also. After spending nearly 8 hours on the phone with an Apple adviser using remote access and deleting and reinstalling my phones system as well as my hotmail accounts the problem still exists. The reason eventually given is that as hotmail is an older email program from Microsoft it was not considered when making appropriate changes in 13.1.1 and 13.1.2. The last advice given was that Apple are aware of the problem now and are working to resolve it. I’m expecting a callback from their very helpful consultant in a few days.

I've also just updated to iOS 13.2.3, and I am using the Apple mail app with an outlook.com account. The "double delete" issue (where if you delete a newly arrived mail, especially if you delete it quickly before it has synced to read status, meant the screen flashed and seemed to delete it, but you would then be shown the same mail again, having to delete it a second time before it actually was deleted) seems resolved for me, as others have also mentioned. This fix was not mentioned explicitly in the 13.2.3 change log (unless it is related to fetching of new messages which affected some people and which is mentioned).

I also suffered from forwarded messages losing all the quoted content at the recipient end. This is explicitly mentioned as fixed, and I haven't been able to reproduce it either since upgrading, so fingers crossed (though it was intermittent previously, based I think in part on the formatting or length of the quoted message).

However, the most obvious issue - duplicates in Sent Items for sent messages - remains! For me at least, and many others, this is not an intermittent glitch, but happens for every sent mail - again, depending on the formatting or content of the message, sometimes one of the duplicates disappears when opened, sometimes not. Clearly a bug in the Apple mail app with Exchange accounts. Apple, please fix!

And synch of mailboxes with desktop Outlook is inconsistent. Results in emails being “stuck” in folders and only able to be cleared by deleting mailbox on iPhone.

I moved to Outlook iOS which doesn’t have any of these issues. However it does have its issues and drawbacks, along with some really nice features, but alas, that is apparently for another thread in a different forum.

I have removed my hotmail account on ipad on Sunday morning 1/12/19 which was using outlook due to server error since update 13.2.3 one week earlier and with Apple tech on the phone's help re added it through Microsoft exchange. This helped a little. However I do still get 2 emails sent in my sent file when in fact I sent only one and only one is received but also when I delete eg; 4 emails from my bin sometimes (Not always) it may only delete 2 and leave two that I have to delete each again. This also happens in on my iphone also. There are as many if not more complaints of this and everyone's complaints matching those here on Apple site on the Microsoft site as I am on both so it is an issue between Microsoft (Exchange/Outlook) and Apple update. I believe Peter_Watt may be right in saying get it as good as you can if you have done the delete account, hard restart, re add account and put in a call to Apple as well as report a problem on here then we may have to swim this one out till another update and hope it fixes the issue. What say you Peter_Watt? Do you agree?

I have a long list of faults, all linked to this and now stupidly I updated my 2018 iPad to new iPad OS which has the same. my new iPhone 11 has ..

1) Double send email

2) Fails To sync emails - error at bottom

3) Empty sender details (13.1.1 seems to fix) but has shown a couple of times

4) Calendar fails to show and sync and then shows double calendar in settings - error on settings screen

5) Settings email or calendar will at times prevent setting to no limit on sync

6) No sender showing in inbox

i have had 3 calls with apple, been the Genius Bar who blame it on Microsoft, I’m using hotmail.co.uk account. Genius Bar checked phone and agreed I have done everything possible

1) reinstall of back up x4

2) wipe phone start again x3

3) multiple removal of email and re adding

4) hardware checks fine on apple diagnostic

im now in Twitter private chats and they keep asking questions, but no solution.

I can confirm similar issue with Google Sync. i.e gmail configured as Exchange for push in the native IOS Mail app. Any email composed on the device appears twice in sent items. The first appears to be a local copy, the second is the one synced with the server. Viewing or deleting the first copy doesn’t affect the server copy and vice versa. This is only since 13.1.2 though.

Happening to me a lot. First occurred in gen2 iPad during iOS 13 beta testing. I run the Mail app with a standard Outlook account and work Active Sync Exchange account. Did my head in so much I rolled back to 12.4 (no issues).

Fast forward a few months and I now have a 2018 iPad Pro which was fine until I updated the iOS to 13. Currently on 13.1.2 and the ‘ghost’ sent emails or calendar responses still happening on both accounts running through the Mail app. Tried deleting profiles, resintalling software and accounts etc...all to no avail.

Spoke to Apple today about it and they basically told me it was something I have to accept as it’s been an issue for years. When I mentioned it wasn’t when I was running. 12.4 they didn’t really have an answer. It’s REALLY annoying.

also find that if you go to your trash and select ‘select all’ for deletion, it misses one or two messages out from the selection and you have to manually select them. Again...super annoying and I’m surprised that such a widely used app that’s pretty essential to device usage isn’t less buggy.
