IOS13 Mail outlook.com duplicate sent items

This has bugged me with MacOS Mail for years, and with iOS13 Mail I now have the problem on the iphone (6s)

I have 4 email accoonts, one icloud account (no problems) and 3 Outlook.com accounts. All 3 now store duplicate sent items in the app.

They are not stored on the server sent folder, and only one copy is received by the recipient.

I have deleted the accounts and added back.

Thete is no setting on webmail to help me.

IOS 11 and 12 did not have this problem though MacOS have had it for years. Its no doubt a Microsoft glitch but only shows up in 13.

Any help, or others testing this would be appreciated.

We are seeing this currently only with corporate mail and iPhone 8+ and older phones running v 13 and 13.1. We deleted the mail profile from 2 devices and reinstalled and the problem came back. We use Exchange 2016 on prem w/ Active Sync and Airwatch MDM.  If a user has an iphone with just personal mail we do not see the problem.   If we add a personal mail account to a corp phone with the double sent problem the personal mail account is fine. The double item is not presented in OWA or Outlook client.

Interestingly when you open the double sent items on the phone - one of the two will then disappear.  (it is always the first of the two that are showing on the phone that gets deleted).  Kind of like the message was staged for sending, and when actually sent in generated a second sent item entry.  Open that first one and it goes away…

Now, if you delete the item from Outlook or OWA first, it deletes the 2nd item showing as sent from the phone.  Now go to the first item of the double items sent on the phone and open it and it does not auto-magically delete... Not sure how that helps but at least wanted to put it out there...

Just learned you can’t delete a draft message. Save a message to draft and it shows at the very bottom of the inbox list/screen. Open the draft and choose delete and it comes back. Do it 10 times - yep it comes back. Go to draft folder on phone and delete it - sucker still comes back. The only way I could kill it was to modify it and send it to myself and then it was a double sent item instead of a draft - ha

Happening to me a lot. First occurred in gen2 iPad during iOS 13 beta testing. I run the Mail app with a standard Outlook account and work Active Sync Exchange account. Did my head in so much I rolled back to 12.4 (no issues).

Fast forward a few months and I now have a 2018 iPad Pro which was fine until I updated the iOS to 13. Currently on 13.1.2 and the ‘ghost’ sent emails or calendar responses still happening on both accounts running through the Mail app. Tried deleting profiles, resintalling software and accounts etc...all to no avail.

Spoke to Apple today about it and they basically told me it was something I have to accept as it’s been an issue for years. When I mentioned it wasn’t when I was running. 12.4 they didn’t really have an answer. It’s REALLY annoying.

also find that if you go to your trash and select ‘select all’ for deletion, it misses one or two messages out from the selection and you have to manually select them. Again...super annoying and I’m surprised that such a widely used app that’s pretty essential to device usage isn’t less buggy.

Interestingly these issues are not happening to all iOS 13.x users in the World... We are a law firm in Delaware running about 50 iPhones on Exchange 2016 with Airwatch MDM. Our colleagues across town are running Exchange 2013 and do not have the iOS13 bugs we are all discussing here... One thing I have yet to hear from anyone is carrier - I am on Verizon with these problems. Anyone else out their on AT&T or T-Mobile devices or other carriers with the issues? Anyone out there on Exchange 2013 on prem with this issues?

Have just been on the phone to Apple Support, I explained what was happening and that it was definitely a problem since the IOS13 update as my old iPad (IOS9) was working fine, they acknowledge that duplicate sent emails are occurring in Outlook and that Apple need to communicate with Microsoft to create a patch to sort it out.

i was told further updates to IOS13 will be rolled out to address various issues

i was told that my concern would be lodged and that Apple rely on feedback from customers to make them aware of bugs so it is definitely worth reporting this problem

sounds like we just need to wait and see

I hope that is right, though it has been happening on my Mac Mail for years and several OS versions.

Hello,

I'm facing the same issue with all iPhones with iOS 13 or greater version. My salesforce colleagues have got iPhones and Exchange mailboxes. The y see 2 sent emails into sent folder, but on OWA or on Outlook clint of their Windows PC only one.

I tried to delete the account and reinstall it again into the iPhone but it didn't solve the problem.

No solution for now

I am having the exact same issue. Only after update to ios13. Then 13.1.1, 13.1.2, now 13.1.3. No change. I am running g-suites and an exchange account. Same issue on iPhone X and iPad Pro. Never an issue with previous iOS versions. Contacted Apple support and am continually adding comments to my case number. The guy from Apple said it might have something to do with single server accounts? C’mon Apple... let’s get this obvious bug fixed!
