This might help you I got siri to stop actually going to speaker

settings -- accessibility -- Touch -- (at bottom) call audio routing (i selected bluetooth headset check off) closed the setting

now when i ask siri to make a call she says it is going to speaker but it does not goes to the phone like a normal call

THE NEW UPDATE TDATE WORKS! My microphone is fixed! I can use Siri and I can use my headphones once again!!! Update ur phone to 13.1.3 as it may begin working for some users. So thankful I can finally go to the gym with headphones again. Whew.

In my case, i had my phone plugged into the audio aux port of the car so the stereo becomes the speakerphone. I had to unplug and replug the phone (WHILE DRIVING) in order to get it to use the speakers. I assume this will be the same for anyone using earbuds as well. Can't imagine what it does for bluetooth.

Apps crashing. App dialogs taking over my phone until I respond. Your text editing enhancements are unusable. Phone calls using "Hey Siri" defaulting to speaker and forcing me to unplug and replug (while driving) my aux jack.

WTH was your testing department doing Apple? This update is a pile of crap!

How do i get Siri to quit automatically putting calls on speaker. Every time I say something like, “Hey Siri, call Jim.” The call is placed and put on speaker phone. I then have to tap to turn speak off, and then continue the call. This just started after my last automatic update.

I’m having issues with my iPhone XR when telling Siri to call a contact (Bluetooth on in my car) she states “calling [name] on speaker” rather than sending call through the car speakers. This just started happening after the last 13.1.2 update. I can’t figure how to correct this. It’s annoying since while driving the law states it needs to be hands free and I have to try and adjust it to go through the speakers to be hands free!!

Why does Apple think they know what we want? Every release they screw something up on my phone. Now when I ask Siri to call someone she always puts it on speaker. I don’t want it on speaker. I have tried the fix that was put out there but it didn’t work. Can I back a upgrade out? I shouldn’t find my phone works differently than it did before a push. I should get an option of how I want my phone to work. Apple please stop trying to help me. You don’t know me and don’t know how I want my phone to work.

Apple has always thought they know what you want. Steve Jobs once said "I know what users want better than they do".

Your phone works differently in dozens of ways than it did before it was updated. This is generally known as "product improvement". If nothing was to be changed why bother developing updates at all?

it’s a bug. It doesn’t consider whether or not you are set up in hands-free mode. It just sends the call to the speaker. So if you have earbuds in or are linked to the aux input of your car, it will still send to speaker and you have to unplug and re-plug your phone in while driving.

I found this setting and turned it off which fixed the problem for me:

i used both the suggestions below and even though it says it going through to speaker, i have found it does not - not tried it in the car yet

Same issue with me also, I only told Siri once to call someone on speaker but now it always makes a phone call on speaker even if I don't mention it to call on speaker.

I checked in settings but there's no option to change the setting
