Unable to open or update Safari: SafariQuickLookPreview

I'm attempting to update Safari. When I attempt to open the software update I receive this message "Spotlight is using the SafariQuickLookPreview extension, which must be closed before the software can be installed."

I am unable to close any safari extensions because Safari will not open. When I attempt to open Safari, I get this message: "Safari is being updated. Safari cannot be opened while it is being updated."
