iMac freezes randomly

Checked the usual things - have enough storage, software is current, imac is only 3 years old, but it has started freezing randomly, meaning that there is no pattern to it. Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas or better yet, solutions? Thanks.

System Freezes My iMac is now frequently freezing up....beachball syndrome! It seems to perform much better when I clear the cache, shut down and reboot. I backed up the cache and restarted the machine. It works fine. Is this something that can be done regularly? iMac freezing Hi, I have a 21.5" mid 2010 iMac with High Sierra 10.13.6. The computer keeps freezing and showing the colored pinwheel. It occasionally works fine. Works fine in safe mode. If I unplug awhile, then it works fine also. But ultimately regresses. I've redownloaded OS and then it worked fine for awhile, but then regresses. Any one have an idea how to fix it? I would prefer not to have to buy a new one, but I recognize that this one is getting long in the teeth. Thanks,

Run the free version of EtreCheck Pro and post back with the report results.
