Silverlight

Hello I just purchased my Mac book pro. One of my main concerns prior to purchasing was the assurance to be able to download Silverlight. The program I use for work requires Silverlight to operate. I was assured by two reps at the apple store prior to purchasing that I would be able to download it. I have now made multiple attempts to download and get Silverlight to work and have been unsuccessful. Can someone please help :)

Bottom line you were mislead. Silverlight was a proprietary plugin by Microsoft. Microsoft stopped development of Silverlight a year ago. Like many Microsoft proprietary frame works they abandoned it after it failed to gain traction in the market.

Safari dropped support for Silverlight (and all classic plugins) some time ago. You might try using Chrome or Firefox instead. They may still support Silverlight. But read the Microsoft article link provided. The end is near and Silverlight is now effectively a Windows only framework. You may want to consider installing Windows on your Mac using the Bootcamp app. It requires a licensed copy of Windows. You can also use a virtual environment like Parallels to install Windows on your Mac.
