Is there anything that can maybe help us? Get iMovie. She can't even update her mac at all. We've tried everything.
In order to download iMovie try this.....
Log into the App Store with the Apple ID that you were using when it was your Mac.
Click on the purchased tab as in the following picture.
Do you see iMovie listed on this purchased page?
If so, download.
You may get version 9 as that is the version that was installed when it was shipped new.
Do you ever recall having obtained iMovie version 10 at any time?
You have looked in the applications folder to see if iMovie is in there?

What model is it (MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro)?
What model year is it?
Both of the above are displayed at Apple menu > About this Mac.
Click on the Apple menu at the top left of the screen, then click on About This Mac. The model year will be displayed after the model (MacBook Pro).
A mid 2012 through early 2013 MacBook Pro can be upgraded to Catalina 10.15.7 but not beyond that. See: How to get old versions of macOS - Apple Support
Hey! Not really sure! It’s a Mac book pro! I believe I had this since 2013! It’s not updated since it hasn’t be used in years!
It is a model 13-inch, Mid 2012 Version 10.11.6
I had my mac book for a while and i haven't used it in years. My daughter now owns this because she makings gaming videos, She can't download iMovie, neither can she update this mac. Any help or updates?
