Series 5, always on not working?

Question

Series 5, always on not working?

I picked up my series 5 watch yesterday, the always on feature is on in my settings but it's not working? I've tried rebooting and unpairing and repairing? any ideas before I trek back to the shop

it's my tattoo blocking the watch contact! Just got off the online chat with apple and she asked if i had a tattoo under the watch. I swapped wrists and it's all working perfectly! So bizarre! apparently the ink interferes with the contact

Just an update for anyone with the same problem. I bought those sticker things and IT WORKS. Crazy.. but - the charging doesn't work when the sticker is on. Very frustrating and I can't believe Apple didn't account for people who might have wrist tattoos.

Anyway, hope this helps someone!

I couldn't believe when she asked if i had a tattoo under it, i thought she was mad lol but instantly fixed when on my other wrist but i now have to use it left handed which isn't the easiest!

Oh my goodness, they can't be serious.. I have tattoos on both wrists! Wow. I'm speechless!

And from this morning, no notifications are coming through either?! Not good. The EE shop said they will exchange it but they are out of stock after a busy weekend. They'll call me in the day or two when it's back in. So it's just a very expensive watch at the moment and not doing half of the stuff it should.

Same thing here. There's a similar thread about this and we aren't the only ones with this issue, I think it's fairly widespread. Super frustrating.

Yea this is crazy.. a lot of people have tattoos! It makes sense though and I'm glad you found the answer.

Having the same issue, but no tattoos. I’ve been wearing about a week. Started going blank yesterday. So frustrating. Problem on either risk, and I’m leaving the country for 3 months!!!
