jpeg files from iPhone to 2015 MacBook Pro running MacOS 10.14

I have a client with a small amount (around 20) jpg files that generate a prompt as "incompatible files) when attempting to copy to the Mac from the iPhone (unsure of model, but fairly recent). Is there a potential software incompatibility or anything we can do to remedy this issue?
