iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

The just released iOS 13.1.3 update seems to have fixed the connection to the Plantronics Edge headset.

I just updated to iOS 13.1.3 seeing that there were two Bluetooth "fixes" included, and unfortunately there is no change with my Plantronics Edge headset. It started getting cracking sounds and then disconnected right about 30 seconds into the call.

I do want to note that I have had zero issues with the connection in my car, a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with standard radio with Uconnect. I have streamed music/audio for nearly 9 hours straight with a number of 10-30 minute calls mixed in without a hiccup. I'm now afraid that this 13.1.3 may have messed that up in which case I will restore back to 13.1.2.

I should also note that I was contacted via email on October 9 by Apple Bluetooth Engineering in regards to what I had posted in this thread and that updating to 13.1.2 did not resolve the issue. I replied with an extremely detailed analysis of what is going wrong with my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB as compared to my prior iPhone 7 Plus 256GB that never had a single Bluetooth issue with any device.

I had Bluetooth connectivity issues with my IPhone 11 Pro Max and my 2014 Toyota 4Runner. I upgraded to 13.1, then 13.2, and finally to 13.3, and the Bluetooth Still keeps dropping. Apple Knows about this issue, but has yet to fix it. I know this because they mentioned the Bluetooth/ vehicle issue in the details of the latest IOS update. Come on Apple, fix this already!

I’ve been having similar issues as well. Phone calls via Bluetooth on both a 2018 UConnect system and through a 2016 Ford Sync start to become garbled after about 1 minute or so into the call. The person on the other end can still hear me but I cant hear them. Music still stays connected and streams well. My phone is up to date with the latest firmware. The only ‘fix’ I have been able to use is to completely turn off Bluetooth from settings on my phone.

Having the same BT issues. I'm on my second 11 Pro because I returned the first one after having *HORRIBLE* issues staying connected to calls on BT and just calls in general not connecting or staying connected. Streaming music was better than phone calls, but still would degrade after a few min of use, mostly when using my gen1 AirPods. I thought I just had an early, buggy phone. I love the phone other than this persistent BT issue. Strangely, my replacement phone hasn't been nearly as bad, having worked just fine over the last 3 weeks with no problems until now which is obviously why I'm on this forum. I just downloaded iOS 13.1.3 hoping it would be the cure but from what I'm seeing here it looks like the problems persist. This is when I start to resent being "locked in" to the Apple ecosystem and those droids start to look more appealing, perish the thought. When you pay $1000.00 plus for a phone you sorta expect that field testing has already been done, not that you are unwittingly part of it. :-/

I am having the same issues with my iPhone 11 Pro and connecting to my Toyota 4Runner. Yesterday I went into Toyota thinking it MUST be old software in the Bluetooth (mind you my iPhone 6 never had issues). Unfortunately after the “updated and upgraded” navigation and Bluetooth I am still having the same issues. Running 13.1.3 experiencing ridiculous Bluetooth bugs, dropping calls, etc.

Please release another fix soon Apple🙏🏻

I am not sure who labels the answers but the one directly below as solved is not by any means off. This is my first iPhone, since I’ve been an android user, needing the dual Sim capability, I never really had the opportunity to use an iPhone up until these last two generations. However I must admit the speed is not very good at all, the apps are hard to stay connected with, and my Bluetooth is constantly cutting off and re-setting itself for all my devices, my watch, my car, my headset, all of them. It’s as if it has a timing out period. It happens roughly about 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 minutes into a conversation and then it will automatically reconnect but it’s about a 15 to 30 second process. It’s extremely frustrating and by far an issue that can’t be dealt with on a day-to-day basis. If anyone has the fix, please offer it up. And please remove the “solved” posting as it is clearly not solved.

I just upgraded from an iPhone 7 Plus to iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 13.1.3 and my Bluetooth is a joke. Not only does it not auto connect to my car, but the audio skips! I did a 25 minute drive and the audio skipped 10 times. It never used to skip at all on the 7 plus. Restarting, relaunching and all the usual dummy stuff didn’t work - this is a software issue. Sort it out apple!

LordBaelish,

I'm still having the exact same crackling/static issue with my 2019 Prius Prime and 2014 4Runner after updating to 13.2 yesterday. It almost acts like a buffering issue because if I hit pause, wait a couple seconds, it seems to go away for a little while. But usually, I need to do the pause/play routine for at least 5 - 10 minutes before it goes away. I have a 40 minute commute so it's something I've noticed since I got my iPhone 11Pro Max now running 13.2

I also have the same crackling/static issues with my brand new Powerbeats Pro and my 1st gen Airpods and those are Apple products so it's definitely not only happening to vehicles and it's not fixed yet.

It didn't.

However, as new versions of the Bluetooth spec are released, they are designed to be backwards compatible with previous versions, but if people didn't properly implement those versions they will not be.

Once again, there is no "reboot" command in the Bluetooth protocol, so if your head end reboots, no matter what device is connected, it's broken and must be fixed by its vendor.
