iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

I had the same issues as many of you here. Connection to car Bluetooth goes on and off all the time after upgrading to IOS 13. Upgrading to 13.1 and 13.1.1 subsequently did not help. I found a workaround in the car brand forum until Apple fixes this issue. That is:

1, Let your other device connect to your phone,

2, Wait until connection is built and phone contacts are synchronized

3, Turn off contact synchronization in Settings-->Bluetooth-->*name of your connected device*-->info-->Synchronize contacts

It has worked for me, I hope it will help you as well.

When people answer can they please state what iOS version they have as otherwise it doesn't give enough context of what you did under what version. I was on iOS 13.1.1 with an iPhone 11 Pro 512GB connecting to BMW X1 via CarPlay. Spotify cuts out every 10-20 seconds. Just installed iOS 13.1.2 (out last night!) and did a 5 mins test. No cuts in music. 5mins not long enough to be 100% sure but looks promising. Give iOS 13.1.2 a try. BTW I had only disconnection issues not pairing or other issues so this fix may not address all other issues reported here. The text of the fix (see my post above) says "Addresses an issue where Bluetooth may disconnect on certain vehicles" so looks to address the only issue I had.

iphone running 13.1.2 and i walked out and left my watch at home today. i havent had a drop all morning. Ive been waiting to see if it happens but havent all day. Again this wasnt an issue with Xs and 13 but with 13 and iphone 11 and 13 something changed.

I just got of the phone with Apple support.

They said they found some issues with the Apple 6 update that was causing some confusion with the bluetooth and causing other issues with bluetooth. Since unpairing my watch and being updated to 13.1.2 i havent dropped a single call. Works in Truck. He told me not to pair back to the phone until apple releases a new 6.2 update for the watch as this seems to be my issue.

Makes since in my head bc it didnt act wierd until i received iphone 11 pro but i didnt update to 6 on the watch until after i had the iphone 11 pro. Maybe some help or light at the end of the tunnel. He said between today or this weekend it will roll out.

He also mentioned that they are aware now of the issue so seems like the forum is finally getting traction.

Whoever mentioned a tie-in with iWatch I think is onto something. So I tested the theory of shutting off my iWatch but still could not connect for more than 15 seconds to my speaker. Turning Bluetooth off/on (with watch off) did not work either. I then said forget device, turned blue tooth off/on and reconnected and it worked, played speaker for over 45 min. As soon as I turned my watch back on it dropped in <30 seconds. Not sure how to pass this info on to Apple development but I think it’s either a watch firmware update needed or a combo of both IOS updates for phone and watch.

I do not know if this has been written here before (but I am not going to read 35 pages...), the problem obviously does not depend on your iPhone (I use an iPhone 8), but from the OS; since I use iOS 13 (now using 13.1.2) I have (and many others) the mentioned problem (in my case with my R-Link 2 system, latest software - Renault's car system). What helped (it is a work around, not a definite solution...) in many cases is to deactivate the contacts synchronisation in your iPhone's Bluetooth settings. Try it, it works for me and many others. Of course, Apple has still to look into this issue and find a solution...

It is at least the third time now that I write it: Yes (!!!), also other models are affected... in my case: iPhone8 ... and this since iOS 13. So it is NOT a specific iPhone, it is iOS 13!! In my case I have to deactivate the contacts synchronisation in order to make a stable BT connection in my car system possible... in another forum concerning Renaults R-Link 2 system (newest firmware there and here...) you would find dozens of complaints about it, concerning all iPhone models. The work around we found is to deactivate the contacts synchronisation in order to get a halfway stable BT connection. I do not know what the **** Apple did here (although I got an idea...), but I think it is time that Apple fixes this problem. Can't imagine that they ignore so many users unless they want to loose a lot of us...

I've just chatted with a Tech from Apple. She fixed my problem.

You have to reset all of your devices before you have it paired with your Iphone 11.

You have to reset your Apple Watch, the speakers, the earplugs, all the devices, and then pair them with your new Iphone. Even your car system has to be reset and then paired again.

It worked for me. If you have problems, go to their website and chat with them, they are very patient to explain and go over with your devices with you. Hope it helps :)

I was able to solve this issue after experiencing the same dropped connectivity over Bluetooth in my Nissan. I’m not sure if this solution will work for other vehicles/devices, but it’s worth a shot.

Click the info icon on the Bluetooth device you are trying to connect. Then, turn off Sync Contacts. Not the ideal solution, but this worked for me and now my iPhone 11 Pro connects automatically and holds a connection, every time.

As I mentioned before, I have a VW Golf and unstable bluetooth experience with my new iPhone 11 (iOS 13.1.3), which use LTE network. I visited Apple Store for this problem and Genius solved my problem. I would like to share the solution, It may help others: Open settings app, click Cellular, click Cellular Data Options, click Voice&Data, Choose LTE&VoLTE off not on (my default was LTE&VoLTE on, so it was the problem) Also Genius looked all hardware test and there is no any problem in the device, He said that 'There are some problems about Airpods connectivity, next update could be a solution".

Hi guys,

Theres a lot of replies here, so I hope this doesnt get lost in the mix, but I wanted to share what worked for me when I first got my iphone 11 and it didnt connect properly to my 2016 WRX bluetooth car stereo.

It gave a message to the effect of 'this bluetooth device isnt supported' and controls wouldnt work such as switching to next song. Even though it did connect and play a song, it wasnt working properly or effective.

I tried updating to 13.1 as suggested above but no dice. Finally I forgot the device on both the car and in my iphone and reconnected, this time when the message came up asking if I wanted to synch contacts, i said NO. This time it connected perfectly and has been working correctly. I'm not sure if this entirely is the reason why it works now and im not sure what that feature is, but it is working now and I hope this helps someone :D
