Photographing the Aurora

Has anyone tried photographing the Aurora in winter with newer iPhones? Is it safe to expose them to subzero temperatures to take photos, and then keep the device close to the body for warmth?

Since they aren't selling the XS anymore, I couldn't confirm the temperature your phone can withstand. here is what the newer iPhone 11 Pro can stand:

Operating ambient temperature: 32° to 95° F (0° to 35° C)

Non‑operating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)

Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing

Operating altitude: tested up to 10,000 feet (3000 m)

I checked and it's the same for the iPhone XR and 11. so it should also be the same for your xs.
