how do you turn off the two factor authentication

I am being driven nuts by this two factor authentication. i set up an apple ipod and now everytime i go to sign into my TV devices or do anything related to any apple device, i am being prompted by 2fa. i reset the ipod and was not intending to keep it but cannot get rid of the 2fa so i have no choice but to hang on to the ipod. i went into the settings where it shows on but it is greyed out and does not give me the opportunity to turn it off. i've looked in my account setting for itunes, nothing. this is stupid not to be able to control your own devices. Apple wants control of everything. this is irritating. Help me shut it off.

From the article below. If it has been on longer than 2 weeks, you can't turn it off.

Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.
