Saving data

The screen of one of my colleagues phone is damaged, she repaired it but apparently the phone is disabled. it says the phone is disabled you need to connect to iTunes. Though she knows the passcode and iCloud password but the data was only on phone. Technician advised that by doing so, the phone will be reset but data will be lost.. what is the way to protect her data?
