AirPods audio issue with 11 Pro

I upgraded to the 11 Pro Friday. Prior to the 11 Pro, I used the iPhone X for 2 years. I purchased AirPods when they were released - I used them with no issues, wore them out, then upgraded to the second generation, and they've been great.

However, with the 11 Pro, I'm having consistent problems with them. While on phone calls (only phone calls) I constantly hear pops, crackles, and other strange "blips" when using the AirPods. I can listen to music with no audio issues. Phone calls are extremely irritating though as audio cuts out with the random snaps, crackles, pops, etc.

I have had two Genius Bar appointments, where the AirPods were replaced on the first visit. The second visit the guy pretty much told me to just return my phone. That was extremely frustrating. I have tested the replacement AirPods on my old X, and the audio is perfect.

I really do not want to return the 11 Pro, but I don't see what other options I have at this time. I upgraded to 13.1 today hoping there was some sort of bug, and I am still having the same problem. I've reset the AirPods and re-paired them with 13.1, same issue. Does anyone have any recommendations?
