Ipad is dissabled, connect to itunes

My old Ipad 3 has been sitting for a while.

I am trying to revive it, I charged it up and

it comes up with "iPad is disabled" "connect to iTunes" on the screen

iTunes say it cannot connect.

I reset it and loaded new updated software 3 times, but it won't allow it to connect.

iTunes gives the error: "iTunes could not connect to the iPad "iPad" because it is locked with

a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes".

But the iPad is disabled so there appears to be no way to enter the passcode?
