Apple Watch Series 5 Timer not working properly

Anyone else finding that their new Apple Watch series 5 has a bug with the timer? Usually clicking a desired duration or attempting to use a custom timer doesn't work for me. Click a button and nothing happens. When I go back to my watch face, I notice that the complication shows that the timer is functioning, however, I'm not able to set a custom time. Pressing any of the buttons in the timer app appears to do nothing at all. Very strange.

Hi Bill,

It sounds like you're having trouble with using the Timer app on your Apple Watch, and I want to help.

Here are the steps you would normally follow to create a timer:

Set a timer on Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the Timer app isn't responding as expected, I recommend forcing the app to quit and then restarting your Apple Watch.

To force an app to quit on Apple Watch: With the app open, press and hold the side button to show the power options. Then press and hold the Digital Crown to quit the app.

Next, press and hold the side button to power off and start again.

If the issue persists, I recommend unpairing and pairing your Apple Watch again:

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Good luck!

Timer Issues. This does not appear to be related to just the series 5 watch: I have a series 3. Timer Freezes with 'cancel and resume' buttons displayed. The rest of the watch works okay. Watch reset, works then freezes. Watch unpaired and paired - same fault. Spoke to a very helpful lady at Apple Case No 100944222737 - we did an unpair followed by a pair for a new watch. Worked for a while then froze.

Same issue for me. It started after updating OS. I have 6.1 on a 1st gen watch. Restarting is only a temporary fix. I have the latest OS and the bug persists. Others have said unpairing works, but only temporarily. Unpairing and repairing takes at least 15 minutes, ties up your phone, and you have to select options, agree to terms and conditions, etc. - it’s not an easy fix.

Would love apple to acknowledge and fix this bug ASAP. There’s almost a month of customers discussing this issue on this forum.

This has been an intermittent issue on my AW3. Seems to have some with WatchOS 6. "Resetting the app" is not helpful, though I did manage to set off SOS a couple of times... Ended up re-booting the watch. I've owned an AW0 and now this 3 - this is the first time there's been an issue. Note to Apple - first rule of products like this is they need to work. Apparently a couple of hundred people in this forum seem to think this is an issue.
