ios 13 backup itunes

I regularly backup my iPhone X (and iPad) to my Mac computer via iTunes. I just downloaded and installed iOS 13.1, connected my iPhone to my Mac, opened iTunes (version 12.9.5.5) and there is no option to backup the iPhone (and I assume the iPad) to my computer. Is this in preparation to the future demise of iTunes as we've known it? Are we all required to backup to the cloud now?

Launch iTunes first, then unlock your device, then connect it to USB. Any change in behaviour? I'm not a my Mac just now but I was able to backup to 12.6.5.3 yesterday in High Sierra, and I cannot see why it would be any different with 12.9.5.5.
