iPhone 8 no longer plays music through my aux cord

The other day I drove to work and my iPhone 8 played music just fine through my aux cable to the car just like it normally does. When I came home from work it no longer would play through my aux cord and it hasn't since. It plays sound out loud and through headphones, but not through the aux cable. My phone shows that the music is playing, but no sound comes through the car's speaker.

I have tried restarting my phone, tried a different aux cable, a different lightning-aux adaptor cable, and tested my cord with other phones which successfully played through theirs but not mine. Even in other cars or with other aux cables my phone still has no sound output. Nothing seems to explain what happened to make it stop working or to fix it.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that there's no audio when connecting your iPhone 8 to an aux cable. You've done a great job trying to get this resolved! I'm happy to help.

I recommend reinstalling iOS with iTunes. reinstall iOS with iTunes. This step can resolve possible software issues. When reinstalling iOS, iTunes will completely remove your current software and install a fresh version. Make sure you have a recent backup before trying this step.
