GPS accuracy iOS 13 and/or 11 Pro Max

This is an ongoing problem for me as well with my iPhone 11. I hike a lot and use GPS to track and record my hikes. There's a lot of misinformation in the recorded tracks from my phone. When I stop during a hike it adds may meters of distance I guess by trying to locate me. When will this be fixed? There should be a fix without waiting for and having to buy the next generation of iPhone.

Has anyone heard anything new on this problem?

Do you think there is anything that can be done on the user’s end to adjust the Wifi and make it more accurate? I had a similar issue with the only Android phone I ever owned....and it, along with many other less critical issues, was a reason I just said “the only Android phone I ever owned”.

I'm using Alltrails Pro. Have been in touch with their support people and they say they have had other reports of erratic results from iPhone 11. I have been on hikes with people using the same app with iPhone 8 Plus and they do not have the same problem. As far as I know the Alltrails app does not have GPS filtering but will have a look in the settings again.

This is still an ongoing issue since the last update. I live in the UK and the GPS seem to fall out of sync and then all you hear is ‘Proceed to the route’ several times until MAPS gets back into sync. I’ve made a couple of recordings of when this has happened so if you want them Apple let me know. I feel this needs to be escalated further as Apple are providing damaged goods.

Currently, my work around is just to turn off WiFi, when I want semi-accurate GPS data. This is a pretty crappy work around though. Back in March/April timeframe the Apple engineer that was working my case said they were aware of the problem and would patch SW, but several updates later and my GPS data is still not usable. Very frustrating! ☹️

Interesting... had Apple Support do a diagnostic on my iPhone 11 GPS last week and they said "there is no issue with the hardware". When I mentioned that there were a number of complaints about the GPS he said they "were not aware of any problems with the GPS... it must be the software".

You're right, very frustrating! 😡

The only way for anything to be done about this GPS problem is to bombard Apple Support with queries. They do not read the community posts. If they did they would see all of these queries instead of saying that they are not aware of the problem!

But my iPhone 8 not a "pro" model has a better view of the sky? Ridiculous it has a perfect view of the sky and still shows me moving at 1mph and the course is so erratic it just keeps calculating.

please, don’t say this is normal or acceptable! Never had this in my previous iPhone SE.

Here is yet another app sowing the SAME GPS problems I am sitting still with a clear view of the sky!!
