Does this behavior continue after force closing the Mail app and restarting your device? Use the steps for force closing and restarting here:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the above steps doesn't help this, I recommend making sure you have updated to the latest iOS version 13.1.1: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you are still having an issue, I would like to get a bit more information on what's happening so we can continue working toward a resolution. Can you please answer the following?

Are you opening Mail directly from a notification, or is this happening when opening the Mail App?

Do you have multiple email accounts set up? If so, are you seeing this behavior across all accounts?

Hi. I am having the same issues. Every time I open the mail app it automatically opens the latest email I opened. I have multiple email accounts and whichever was the latest email I opened it automatically goes to regardless of which account. I’ve tried deleting all accounts and adding them all back, force closing the app, and restarting the app. Still having the same issue.

After installing 13.1.1, which restarts the phone multiple times, it continues to open to the last opened email.

I open email from the app button, not from notices.

I have multiple email accounts on my phone, and regardless of where I leave it (tried on the screen showing the mailboxes), it opens in the last opened email, regardless of folder. Highly annoying, as it’s also making them marked as unread.

It is occurring across all accounts.
