How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra. That is as far as that model will go.
- Perform a Time Machine backup before you upgrade
- Boot into Recovery ⌘-R and run Disk Utility First Aid on your startup drive. Then restart.
- It could not hurt to run Malwarebytes for Mac if you presently are using macOS 10.10 or later.
- Ensure that you have at minimum 20+ GB available storage. Alot more would be preferable.
- Check that your third-party applications have updates that work on High Sierra
- Check that your printer/scanner vendors still support these devices with current driver updates.
- Upgrade to High Sierra if there are no show-stoppers in the above.
