Disk First Aid stuck at "extents" error
I have Mohave. Computer is running extremely slow. Tried to run Disk Utility First Aid and computer locks up with error below.

The startup disk has suffered some degree of corruption, which may or may not be fixable.
If you did not run Disk Utility's First Aid function from Recovery mode, then do that: Repair a disk using Disk Utility on Mac - Apple Support.
Back up your Mac if you're not already doing so. To learn how to use Time Machine please read Back up your files with Time Machine on Mac.

Please determine if the same problems occur in "Safe Mode": Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.

What was the result of using Disk Utility's First Aid function in Recovery mode?
Reinstalling macOS might be worthwhile: Reinstall macOS - Apple Support. Don't do anything until you create a backup though.
I reinstalled the os disk utilities worked however the computer still runs very slow
That did not help disk utilities in recovery mode worked fine but when i tried in in normal mode the same problem as before
