Trying to deactivate old iphone 6+. It is signed in with old AppleID which does not exist. Don't know password.

I'm trying to deactivate old IPhone 6+ to sell. It is signed in with an old AppleID which does not exist. I deleted that email years ago. I don't know the old password. I have not been using this IPhone for years. Since that IPhone, I have used 7+ and am now using XS Max. My new AppleID is functioning well. I'm not sure if it is the same account with switched Apple ID through the years or not.

if you are the original owner, take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store.

or contact Apple ID Support. They will need to see the original purchase receipt/paperwork also.
