Help with Migration from older iMac to new iMac
Hi. I have a 27 inch 2010 iMac i7 with internal 120GB SSD and internal 2TB HDD on High Sierra. I have applications on the SSD and my user files all on the 2TB HDD.
I have just bought a 2019 i5 iMac 27 inch mid range model with Mojave 10.14.6. Problem is this device only has the 1TB fusion drive.
Can anyone give me any tips on migrating to external drives. I would like to use my user files from an external drive just leaving the applications to load from the fusion as I do currently from my internal SSD.
I had considered doing a clone of my 2TB drive and time machine backup of the 120GB SSD. I could then take the files from the 120GB SSD and place them on the fusion drive and then clone the 2TB drive and use that externally?
Would this work? If not plug and play what would I need to do?
Thanks for any help.
