I recently downloaded a movie to my iMac. How does it get to iCloud?

I recently downloaded a movie to my iMac. How does it get to the iCloud? I see most, if not all, of my movies in iTunes and they have a cloud symbol indicating they are in the Cloud and if I click on the Cloud they will be downloaded by my computer. The recently purchased movies does not show the cloud symbol. How does it get to the Cloud? And when I want to watch one, that is in the Cloud, do I just click on the movie or do I click on the cloud symbol? All comments are welcome.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re wondering about a movie you recently downloaded. I’m happy to provide some information. Most of your purchased items will be available to download from iCloud onto your devices as soon as you’ve purchased it. You can find steps for downloading purchases to your current device or another device here:

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books - Apple Support

The purchase you’re mentioning now doesn’t have a cloud icon next to it because it’s downloaded to your Mac. If you delete that item from your library, it should then have the cloud icon next to it.
